The Black Dahlia
(from Nico's "Flowers of Flesh and Blood" series)

Elizabeth "Betty" Short
"The Black Dahlia Murder"

(July 29, 1924 - January 15, 1947) Short was an aspiring actress better known as the Black Dahlia. She was the victim of a gruesome and unsolved murder at the age of 22.
On January 15, 1947, Elizabeth Short's horribly mutilated body, severed at the waist and sliced upon the face and genitals, was discovered in a vacant lot in the 3800 block of South Norton Avenue in the Leimert Park neighborhood of Los Angeles by a woman walking her infant in a stroller.

The murder was never solved and has become one of the most infamous murder mysteries of all time, inspiring books, movies, and decades of research and speculation.
