It's Alive!! Frankenstein Unleashed - A Group Art Exhibit - Since 1818, when Mary Shelly first introduced her Modern Prometheus to the world, the character of Frankenstein's Monster has been a haunting presence in our imaginations. A figure reimagined into various incarnations for almost two centuries, Frankenstein/the Monster (interchangeable in the modern vernacular) has become a beloved staple for every horror fan. For most, the creature was brought to life in the classic Universal and Hammer films. Mel Brooks and Andy Warhol paid their tributes in the 70s, and Bernie Wrightson breathed new life into the subject with his gorgeous illustrations in the 80s. This exhibit pays homage to the entire Frankenstein mythos…the writers, those who have worn the makeup (Karloff, Chaney, Lugosi, Strange, Lee, Gwynne, Boyle, De Niro, and the rest), the make-up artists, the directors, and the artists who have come before us.
